organic coffee shops and galleries

There is another new organic coffee shop coming up at Medland and Dundas - the Beet Organic Market at 2945 Dundas St West. The website claims that it will be open by the end of September, it looks like they're still getting ready for the launch. We've tried Rebas Cafe and Gallery at 3289 Dundas St West, which is just a few doors across the street from the Malta Bake Shop of pastizzi fame. If you do end up going to Rebas, the atmosphere is very mellow and the music is great, their sandwiches are a top hit. Dont forget to put yourself on their mailing list, they usually have a newsletter that goes out at least once a month with all their upcoming events and exhibits.

What about Agora Cafe? They have been open since June under new ownership and they have changed the place around! They only use fair trade organic coffee, teas and the baking and produce are local or organic.

It's run by a local girl and her family, super friendly service and everything I've tried here is great! It's really becoming a hub for locals. They definitely started the trend for fair trade organic in the area.

I see The Beet Organic Market is finally open! I haven't eaten there, but I did stop in for a coffee and it was very busy.
One small criticism would be that while their efforts to be organic and eco-friendly are to be commended, I question the fact that the beautiful organic finishes used for the counter tops and cabinetry was apparently shipped in from Vancouver.
That aside, I'm looking forward to checking it out again.
